Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness

SERO supports communities affected by emergencies such as droughts, floods, conflict, and displacement, while also helping them prepare for and reduce the impact of future shocks. Our approach combines rapid response with community-based preparedness and resilience building.

Our Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness activities include:

  • Supporting emergency response efforts through community outreach, coordination, and referrals during crises.
  • Assisting vulnerable households during droughts, floods, and displacement through emergency support and information sharing.
  • Promoting community preparedness and risk awareness, including early warning information and basic disaster risk reduction practices.
  • Supporting community emergency committees to strengthen local response capacity.
  • Coordinating with humanitarian partners, clusters, and local authorities to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
  • Integrating disaster risk reduction and resilience measures into other program areas.
